may join as an Associate Member. Contact the Association office
for details on membership.
How do I get a handicap?
This is a simple process. One way is to join one of the KPGA Member clubs provided in the KPGA/GolfNet network. Players should visit one of the clubs and speak with either the golf professional or one of the staff members. They can assist you with membership information. Amateur golfers are encouraged to become part of the KPGA/GolfNet network not only to receive tangible benefits, but to become linked with the only statewide golf association reprinting public golf and public golfers in the country dedicated to serving and protecting the best interests of the game.
How do I find out the Course & Slope rating of a course I am playing?
The USGA Course Rating and Slope Rating from every set of tees should be printed on the score card and posted in a prominent place at the course, preferably by means of a poster certified by the authorized golf association. The Rating should also be easily retrievable on the screen of a computer used for score posting.
Does the USGA Slope and Rate Courses?
No, only golf associations that have been authorized by the USGA may Slope and Rate courses.
May I post scores for handicapping purposes from a course that has not been sloped and rated?
No, scores made on a course with no USGA Course Rating or Slope Rating shall not be entered into the player's scoring record.
Why should I have a handicap?
It's the way players of varying abilities can compete with one another on an equal basis. Golf is one of the few sports that offers such an opportunity.
